Special Attention: The Fear Index

The volatility is a gauge used to track investor confidence in the stock market. The index has been moving to the upside for the past three months. Based on the movement of the index it indicates that investors are running scared due to the amount of fear in the stock market. If you have a close look at the chart below you will notice that it has hit all time highs and may go even higher as investors look for other places to put their hard earned cash. Many are in the process of sending funds to overseas or simply putting it under the mattress until the financial storm passes. The (VIX) Volatility Index ended the week at all time highs ending the week at 69.69 up 30.56 or 77.58% before hitting all time highs at 76.94. Please have a look at the chart below.
